Director, Commercial IT & Digital - Andean Cluster

Within the Andean Cluster, we have an outstanding opportunity in Bogotá, Colombia, for the role of Andean Cluster IT, Innovation & Digital Director. This position is responsible for defining and delivering the IT & Digital strategy across the Andean Cluster, transforming business solutions and maximizing the value of commercial IT services, platforms and innovations to support AstraZeneca’s commercial objectives and patient outcomes. This role partners with senior internal and external stakeholders to ensure IT investments and digital initiatives evolve in alignment with business needs and comply with global standards.

Role Requirements:

  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or related administrative, economic or health discipline.

  • MBA or advanced business qualification — desirable.Bilingual – English required.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, digital or technology leadership roles with responsibility for strategy, delivery and people management in matrix/global organizations; experience in the pharmaceutical or regulated healthcare environment is highly desirable.

  • Experience in the Colombian market and comprehensive knowledge of the Andean healthcare environment (Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela).

  • Proven track record delivering complex, multi-country IT projects and enterprise platform implementations (e.g., SAP, cloud migrations, CRM, analytics).

  • Demonstrable experience with digital ecosystems, eCommerce integrations, automation (RPA), AI use-cases and cybersecurity fundamentals.

  • Strong vendor management experience and experience negotiating with global competence centers.

  • Experience or familiarity with GxP systems and validated computerized systems — desirable.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, strategic thinking, project management and communication skills; highly detail-oriented and technologically savvy.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Copilot, Microsoft Teams, ChatGPT, Power BI and internal AZ platforms.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead mid-term and annual strategic planning for IT & Digital across the Andean Cluster to maximize commercial and patient-facing opportunities and manage technology-related risks.

  • Manage local IT operations and delivery to ensure objectives are achieved according to defined metrics (portfolio delivery, uptime, customer satisfaction).

  • Translate global IT priorities into last-mile execution across markets, ensuring standardization of projects, platforms, software and hardware.

  • Negotiate and manage demands with global competence centers (e.g., SAP developments), ensuring local requirements are prioritized and integrated into global roadmaps.

  • Act as the official IT representative for the Cluster in interactions with government bodies, external stakeholders and partners regarding digital systems and compliance, ensuring accountability for outcomes.

  • Ensure continuous availability, integrity and compliance of digital platforms and systems that enable patient access and commercial operations, maintaining alignment with AstraZeneca’s Code of Ethics.

  • Define and implement strategies for emerging technologies (cloud, big-data & analytics, digital ecosystems, RPA, Generative/Applied AI), showing business relevance, measurable impact and adoption.

  • Identify, pilot and scale high-impact innovations (startups, hackathons, co-innovation labs) to deliver competitive advantage and solve business challenges.

  • Oversee the delivery of capability projects into markets with quality, in partnership with business change leaders and international/regional IT teams.

  • Drive transparency on portfolio value and benefits realization; define and monitor KPIs, customer scorecards and ROI for IT investments.

  • Manage IT service delivery, SLAs, incident/resolution processes, demand management and continuous improvement to maximize customer satisfaction. Build, lead and develop a high-performing, inclusive IT team; define capability plans, succession and leadership pipelines in partnership with HR.

  • Control and monitor costs, capacity planning and utilization; recommend resourcing models and investments consistent with IS standards.

  • Manage crisis response and business continuity for IT disruptions impacting commercial operations.

  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies (SHE, ABAC, privacy, external interactions), GxP requirements where applicable, and support audit readiness.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with external partners, vendors and the healthcare ecosystem to support digital initiatives.
